The North Face Waterproof Ski Gear Review

In this video I put The North Face ski jacket and pants to the test as my daughter hoses me down thoroughly enjoying every minute. With Gore-Tex (jacket) and HyVent (pants) protection, I stay completely dry. This jacket is 15+ years old, still looks like new and performs outstanding with all zippers functioning properly (with a lot of use). With several venting zippers, five pockets conveniently located and an excellent hood, this jacket rocks. The pants likewise have several pockets, fit great and have a Recco reflector to aid in location during avalanche rescue. The pants are 3 years old and were only replaced as my sharp ski edges sliced a few holes in my previous pants over years of use. The North Face would have likely repaired then for free or a reasonable cost (they did it free for my friend) but I felt 12 years of life was sufficient and I caused the damage. Both are extremely warm (when used with fleeces underneath) and have been used at -15 F night skiing. I highly recommend The North Face for their unprecedented quality and lifetime warranty that is excellent.

Enjoyed your video, thanks. I’ve tried this test and found it doesn’t really work to test for waterproofness – it can pass inferior coats, or those with weak or worn leaking seams.
To help others, I’ve done a video on a new test I’ve developed to check if your
jacket is waterproof.
