Vincent Brennan says:

How would define the differences between the XMax 120 and 100 for an older advanced expert skier who loves Utah Powder

AG Coarseman says:

You are spot on about the foam.
X Pro for instance have a much cushier liner and they feel absolutely fantastic straight out of the box.
However, after 3-4 hours of skiing I need to buckle them down to the last notch to preserve the feeling and the energy transfer.

X Max on the other hand feel much tighter out of the box but they preserve their snug fit throughout the day.
These boots are a godsend for people with narrow feet. Never have I tried a boot with better heel hold than the X Max.

But again, not for everybody, guys with wider feet should probably look elsewhere.

Good review. I have a question is the shell of the x max and x Pro the same? Being the liners are different. I was given a new pair of 26.5 2016 Salomon x pro last year but I have not skied this year. They were heated up and the right foot fits perfect my left ankle is smaller than my right foot and the fit was a bit loose and a rear outside pad was fitted and the ankle area feels tighter. I have a wider foot around the toe area, a D plus width I guess I should of started with the x max but I have to work with the x Pro. If the heal area is still too loose on the left boot after skiing can I get a Salmon x max liner? Or should I work with a larger outside pad on the x pro liner? I am in my 50’s and an x ski racer. I don’t ski as much now as when I was younger. Thanks.

Thanks för a good review! Is there any difference between the 2014/2015 version and this years?

David Hohl says:

A great boot and look. The liner looks well made. Firm foam makes sense. Thanks for the info
